Strictly cache-related information:Local file system cache? Filenames same as/similar to original filenames for easy finding or, at least, do they have the same extension?Stores binary files w/o modification?Cache relocatable?
Desktop PC browsers: IE7 RC1+ (all files are stored in the subdirectories of c :\Documents and Settings\ USERNAME Local Settings\ Temporary Internet Files\ Content.IE5\)+: original filenames are pretty easy to guess / search for (unlike with the two other browsers): they start with the original filename and continue with a possible index; they also have the original extension+n/a
Opera 9.02+ (all files are stored in c :\Documents and Settings\ USERNAME \Application Data\ Opera\ Opera\ profile\ cache4\)0: they have a machine-generated numeric filename but at least their extension is the original; original filenames stored in dcache4.url+n/a
Firefox 1.5.0.7+ (all files are stored in c :\Documents and Settings\ USERNAME \Local Settings\ Application Data\ Mozilla\ Firefox\ Profiles\ SOMENAME. default\ Cache\)-: the worst: they have a machine-generated filename and the extensions are also dropped (unlike with Opera (Mobile)). That is, it takes the most work to find / identify a given file with Mozilla.+n/a
PPC browsers: IEM (WM5 AKU2.3)+ Same as with the desktop IE++ ; see the Relocate the PIE / NetFront Cache article (alternate links in the Recommended Links section or above)
Opera 8.6+ Same as with the desktop Opera++; see this
NF 3.3 commercial final+ Numeric filenames- (all files have the HTTP response headers in them)+; see the Relocate the PIE / NetFront Cache article (alternate links in the Recommended Links section)
Minimo (09/24/2006 nightly build)+ (exactly as with the desktop Firefox case; the cache will be stored in the \Cache directory of the chosen drive)Same as with the desktop Mozilla++ in the Advanced dialog, in the drive selector drop-down list
Thunderhawk 2.10303- n/a (There is no cache)n/a (There is no cache)n/a (no cache)
Opera Mini (2.0.4509 advanced)- n/a (There is no cache)n/a (There is no cache)n/a (no cache)
