VGA modes/orientation compliance/ability to change orientation and other operation tests: Native VGA support?+ (auto-loads VGA skins in native mode; only some unimportant dialogs are displayed in the upper left quarter). On the other hand, in TSU6000 (& everything low-resolution) CCF import mode, it's useless on VGA devices - even in QVGA mode.- (upper left quarter occupied)N/A- (upper left quarter occupied)Some support - doesn't rescale the skin, misplaces labels, though.so-so - if you define 480*640 themes, then, it'll work; otherwise, with the default ones, only the upper left quarter occupied- (upper left quarter occupied)?: Couldn't test because coulnd't get past the registration key entry screen – some GUI components aren't displayed at all.- (upper left quarter occupied)- (upper left quarter occupied)

Supports built-in hardware PDA keys?+--so-so (Options/Hard buttons; only button 1/2, the arrows and the Action button is redefinable and can only control a given TV set - that is, there is no machine-specific HW button assignment)Much better than in NR2.3 – all buttons can be assigned in a much more flexible way+so-so (generic, non-specific options: only the standard 4 buttons + action + arrows can be set)+ (much better than that of NoviiRemote 2.3 or TotalRemote - if a VCR is active, VCR-related functionality can be assigned to any HW buttons (even the special PL720 buttons!); with an active TV, TV buttons and so on++, definable for all HW buttons on the PL720

IR capabilities /HW compatibility tests: Toggle codes?--- +; (it's pretty misleading: upon Home Devices/choose your device/ReLearn, Double Mode is explained as "on problems only". However, this is the toggle mode; the default Single Mode offers no toggling capabilities). Works OK. If you, in addition, teach in Single Mode, then, only every second button press will be sent out - this is certainly a bug. Therefore, it's always preferable to use Double Mode to learn - even if it's not a toggle button. (Tested on both devices)+; it's still pretty misleading; other NR 2.3 problems fixed+; works OK (Toggling must be initiated at the start of learning)+ (during teaching, you can also choose for teach a toggling signal)- (in addition to the single mode, it's only able to learn in macro mode - any number of consecutive commands)-- (it's a very-very simple app)
Macros (concatenated, individual, sometimes completely independent IR commands; do not mistake it for toggling!)?+ (editable in Tonto)-+ (connecting two or more activities together)-, will only come later-, will only come later+; its config file format is excellent and easily editable (Buttons and Macros dirs)++--
Supports tap-and-hold (e.g. volume)? Tested with the Canon camera+++++++ (on the 2210, it wasn't able to learn the Zoom signal; on the PL720, it worked OK)+- (!)+ to a certain degree: it didn't emit a truly continuous signal, unlike other apps, which may not the best (for example, jittery zoom) on the iPAQ; on the PL720, it was OK

Philips Pronto support?Native support for TSU6000 (8-bit color) CCF's; after a (really simple, desktop-based) conversion, reads the (converted) CCF files of everything older. Excellent!-- (however, it has its own, very extensive database instead at MyNevo.com)--- can't directly import/export CCF files; you need to manually copy/paste hex codes (see section "Import Philips Pronto CCF Hex Codes" in the help)?: in my tests, the signal sent out didn't work with any test CCF's. Others have reported success, though.?: I haven't managed to make the actual IR codes work; others have, on the other hand, reported success with them. Rendering problems; absolutely no suport for TSU6000 (Pro) files. If you copy the CCF files in \Devices, it'll find them in Main menu/Manage Devices; but a lot of buttons won't even rendered/displayed, if the pages are rendered at all and the app doesn't crash. In these cases, a reset and a restart generally helps. It's certainly less compatible than the CCF support of PDAWin TV Remote Controller 5.5, let alone, say, NetRemote IR+ (no RC6/predefined codes though; the majority of the CCF files I've tested worked. Great!)-
Also loads Pronto layout, not just codes?+N/AN/AN/AN/A- (only IR codes are transferrable by hand)++ (but is buggy)+ (it works just great!)N/A

Database? Number of units in the built-in/online database?- (no pre-defined devices at all)- (no pre-defined devices at all)+; excessive+; 92 units + about 500 devices freely downloadable+; around 100 units + able to read/import the older files+, about 30 units+; some hundreds+; 59 units (TV/VCR)+; 38 units (data stored inside the main EXE file)+, quite extensive library (IR data stored inside UniversalRemoteCE.ird)
Did I find a driver in the built-in/online DB for the ...JVC 7700? ... Canon camcorder?N/AN/A- (no Camcorder category; the VCR (/Accessories) category only have one entry) / MyNevo had the correct driver (the 4th) with the already-extended category name ("VCRs / Camcorders")- (no Camcorder category; no Canon at all)- (no Camcorder category; no Canon at all)- (only one, NEC video IR file)+ (#1)- (no Canon)--
